Morning Gascoyne Mochi Workshop

Carnarvon | Sunday 23 August

Discover the art of Japanese mochi making using fresh Gascoyne produce.

Join qualified pastry chef Poon for a fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to make soft, chewy mochi from scratch before filling them with delicious local ingredients, including Sweeter Banana bananas and other seasonal Gascoyne produce.

Before moving to the Gascoyne, Poon worked in Hong Kong’s five-star hotels as a qualified pastry chef. Today, he manages the shed at Sweeter Banana while continuing to bake with the same passion and precision that made him successful in luxury kitchens. His journey from international pastry chef to local producer makes this a truly unique culinary experience.

Throughout the workshop you’ll learn the techniques behind making perfectly soft mochi dough, shaping and filling your own creations, and take home your handmade mochi, recipe card and reusable container to recreate them at home.

Whether you’re a foodie, love Japanese desserts or are simply looking for a unique family activity during the Festival, this workshop promises plenty of fun—and something delicious to take home.
